The church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Węgorzyno was built in the 15th century with boulders. Burned down at the end of the 16th century, it was rebuilt with brick, but burned down again at the turn of the 17th and 18th century, and again rebuilt in the years 1705-15. The wooden steeple with a Baroque tent was added in 1750. The church sustained heavy damage and was rebuilt once more in the years 1957-59. The numerous fires and subsequent reconstructions changed the church’s original form. The last renovation was completed in 2005, restoring the steeple. On the photograph, you can also see the town hall.
