Słubice is one of the locations of the nesting platforms for terns, installed on the Oder river to imitate natural islands forming in natural river beds. Since the Oder is a regulated river, such habitats are no longer to be found. The platforms allow the birds to nest safely, protecting the eggs from the two major threats - predators and flood. Aside from the water and marsh birds, you can also spot other species around the platforms, such as osprey.
