The first church is mentioned in 1337. The present church comes from the 16th century, was damaged in a fire and rebuilt by Mikołaj Otysław in 1730-1739. There is a commemorative plaque from 1710 on the wall of the church, devoted to the owner of the village and the builder of the temple, Mikołaj Otysław of Kopienica.
In 1976, the church underwent a thorough external renovation and the stained glass windows were replaced.
