Palace in Brynek

Dodaj do planera

The Rosenthal family built the first palace in Brynek in 1829. In the second half of the 19th century, the building was rebuilt by Otto von Rosenthal based on the plans of the architect Karl Johann Lüdecke. At that time, two wings and two towers were added to the palace. In 1889, Brynek's last heir, Hugo von Rosenthal, died, leaving a minor daughter. Legal guardians took over the management of the property. It was then that one of the richest German families, Henckel von Donnersmarck, became interested in purchasing the palace. It was finalized in 1904, when Brynek bought Count Hugo II for the purpose of the headquarters of the von Donnersmarck family in Siemianowice.

The palace did not seem to meet the count's expectations, as a new one was erected in its place after being pulled down to its foundations. The building was built in one year, 1905, although the finishing works lasted until 1908. The impressive palace interiors have been preserved, incl. the main hall, dining room or the palace chapel of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Hubert.

At present, the palace houses the dormitory of the Complex of Forest and Ecological Schools named after Stanisław Morawski.
