In 2009-2010, a sensational discovery was made in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Lubecko - Gothic frescoes from the beginning of the 15th century. Experts describe the paintings of Lubecko as "gothic works of the highest quality". The painting in Lubecko is one of the most interesting conservation discoveries in recent years in the field of wall painting throughout the country.
Covering all walls, vault, presbytery and the inner part of the rood arch (this changed the dating of the building itself). They form a homogeneous ensemble, dominated by the monumental composition of the Last Judgment with Christ in a mandrol, accompanied by Evangelists' symbols, supplemented with the Deesis motif (Mother of God and St. John the Baptist asking for favors for sinners). The whole is complemented by extensive evangelical scenes. The iconographic solutions of the paintings are traditional. The frescoes were probably created in the second quarter of the 15th century, although it is also possible to date them to the beginning of the first quarter of this century or to the years after 1432. After a three-year renovation, the paintings were uncovered and preserved.
