The present church in Poniszowice dates from 1499. In 1570, a free-standing belfry was erected next to the church.
It is an oriented temple, situated on a hill. The church was built in a carcass construction. The chancel is closed on three sides, next to it from the north there is a rectangular sacristy with a collector's box on the first floor - founded by Aleksander Zawadzki from 1852. The square nave, originally divided by two octagonal pillars, adjoins the chapel from the north. Closed Saturdays surround the nave of the church, the chancel is decorated with a wide roof. A shingle roof, one-sided half-gable above the nave, with a western gable flowing smoothly on Saturdays, a lower, gable roof over the chancel, changing into a three-slope roof. In the roof above the nave there is an octagonal turret for a bell.
The furnishings of the church are baroque and mannerist. The main early baroque altar, from 1655, and consecrated two years later, initially dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Currently, there is a painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa, brought from Częstochowa in 1850.
