The Donnersmarck Palace and Park Complex in Kalety-Zielona

Dodaj do planera

There is a fairly dilapidated hunting lodge in Zielona. This, now forgotten, and once bustling building, was erected in 1861 by Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck, who was also the owner of a pulp and paper factory in Kalety. In the local forests, there was also a specially arranged zoo, where deer, fallow deer and wild boar were kept.

Built in 1861 on the initiative of Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck (1830-1916), the hunting lodge was surrounded by a magnificent park and connected by a special road with the residence in Świerklaniec. When planning the entire establishment, the picturesque surroundings were used - incl. pond, built in the Middle Ages, which was included in the park. The local zoo, which was a closed forest hunting ground, had a considerable size - 6,000 ha, including several local forest districts. For example, in 1914 - on the eve of World War I - there were about 450 deer here.

The building is made of stone and brick, plastered. It was built on a rectangular plan. It has two storeys and is covered with a hip roof made of tar paper. The façade has seven axes, with a central three-storey, three-axial projection, preceded by a pillar porch supporting the balcony. The rear façade features a prominent avant-corps, probably rebuilt in the second half of the 20th century. The façades of the building are simplified, only some of the window openings have retained the simple window sills and panels. Prominent cornices have also survived: inter-story and crowning.

The hunting lodge is not open to the public. The facility is located in a closed, fenced area that is not allowed to enter. The palace can only be seen from a distance, from behind the fence.
